At this year's VISION show in Stuttgart, Vision Components presented as a premiere the VC4012nano Smart Camera. This extremely small Smart Camera is based on the single board camera VCSBC4012nano released earlier this year.

Measuring only 80 x 45 x 20 mm, the VC4012nano is probably the smallest vision system currently available on the market. The cost-efficient camera features a CMOS sensor with a 5 Megapixel resolution and is optimally suited for high-speed applications.

As a world premiere we presented the VC4012 nano housing camera - probably the smallest Vision System in the world. This new extremely small AND economic Smart Camera was the star on our booth with several pre orders already as result of the exhibition. The Robocup 2009 finalists showed another kind of Machine Vision expierence. The football playing robots were equipped with VC boardcams and a powerful example for our stand-alone-systems.

The new VC4067/NIR near infrared camera was especially developed for use with the VC Solar Solution. Thanks to the particular sensor activation method, the photosensitive technology ensures highly precise images at wavelengths up to 1,100 nm. Thus, the camera is optimally suited, e.g., for electroluminescence (EL) quality control methods. It reliably detects and identifies errors such as micro cracks, shunts, and disconnected fingers. Furthermore, the VC4067/NIR can be applied in many other branches, too, like i.e. for security applications. The resolution equals that of similar systems on the market without integrated intelligence. Unlike those, the cost-efficient VC solutions do not require cooling systems and include all image processing electronics.

Featuring an integrated 400 MHz processor from Texas Instruments, the VC4067/NIR has a computing power of 3,200 MIPS. The 2/3" CCD sensor has a 1,280 x 1,024 pixel resolution and provides a maximum frame rate of 14 fps and a freely programmable exposure time from 5 µs to 17 s. The VC4067/NIR comes with an RS232 and an Ethernet interface and an external trigger input that enables jitter-free image recording even at high reading frequencies. Standard equipment also includes four digital PLC inputs and four outputs and an SXGA video output.

For the first time Vision Components presents the new member of the VC BoardCam family: the new VCSBC4012 nano. With its extremely small dimensions, only 40 x 65 mm, it is probably the smallest vision system in the world!

The new VCSBC4012 nano is an advancement for which the VCSBC4012 was used as a modell - a board camera that is very small itself, with a size of only 40 x 120mm. Vision Components succeeded in designing an even smaller one by assembling both sides of a board. As a result, the new VCSBC4012 nano is both a very powerful and easy to integrate camera, since it superseedes an external PC - like every other intelligent camera from Vision Components. The VCSBC4012 nano is thus particularly suitable for applications that have only limited space for machine vision integration.
