New documentation for Smart Camera Operating System released |

As of January 2007, a detailed manual of Vision Components®' real-time camera operating system VCRT 5.XX is available to customers and users. It documents all proven VCRT features as well as new functions added to the 5.25 version, such as the the Beckhoff LIB program library which enables users to connect Beckhoff modules via Ethernet, thereby extending the camera's digital I/Os.

Intelligent camera controls foosball goalkeeper |

At last year's VISION trade show, Vision Components® showcased the capabilities of Smart Cameras by means of a foosball competition which attracted many visitors. A modified foosball table with only two goalkeepers was employed, one of which could be used to aim at the opposite goal. By means of a special program, an intelligent VC4038E camera monitored the movements of the ball and calculated the optimal position for the opposite goalkeeper.

Thanks to its integrated 400 MHz (3,200 MIPS) processor from Texas Instruments, the VC4068 is one of the fastest intelligent cameras on the market and qualifies even for highly complex applications. Its 1/2“ CCD sensor has a resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 pixels. Triggered internally or externally, the camera offers a maximum frame rate of 14 fps (28 fps in binning mode).

Trade show eyecatcher: Smart Camera controls foosball goalkeeper
At this year's VISION trade show, image processing expert Vision Components presented new, high-performance VC44xx camera models and an intelligent line scan camera, both of which attracted a lot of attention. Vision Components also hosted several well- attended seminars offering product information and an introduction to Smart Camera programming.
