The task: A device that can perform highly precise measurements of turned parts, and is also able to deal with parts which have troublesome reflecting surfaces. Precision and speed is required, as parts are produced on a mass production scale. The construction must have a minimal foot-print, so that, for example, an image processing system can be incorporated into the system at a later point.
