Intelligent camera controls foosball goalkeeper |

At last year's VISION trade show, Vision Components® showcased the capabilities of Smart Cameras by means of a foosball competition which attracted many visitors. A modified foosball table with only two goalkeepers was employed, one of which could be used to aim at the opposite goal. By means of a special program, an intelligent VC4038E camera monitored the movements of the ball and calculated the optimal position for the opposite goalkeeper.
Data was then transferred to an ECOSTEP motor from Jenaer Antriebstechnik and a positioning system from Bahr Modultechnik, which ensured the goalkeeper's mobility. The camera-controlled system turned out to have very fast reactions: There was a rush of people trying to score, but only few succeeded.
