We especially designed a shielded FPC (flexible printed circuit) cable to achieve a reliable data transfer without any loss. There are two types of cable available: 15-pin and 22-pin. Thus, you can connect the MIPI camera module directly - without any additional board - to your CPU board, i.e. the Raspberry Pi®. Another benefit: We can use the full capacity of the MIPI CSI-2 interface!
MIPI CSI-2 camera modules for 2 or 4 lanes
The FPC cable connects the VC MIPI® camera modules with 22-pin connector directly with the 15-22 pin (2 lanes) or 22-22-pin (4 lanes) MIPI interface. With that, all data can be transferred extremely fast.
With four lanes and a processor rate of 1.5 Gbps per lane, that most CPUs can handle. That makes 6 Gbps and 750 MB/s at 8-bit pixel resolution, which is twice as fast as USB 3 cameras.

Video streams and single acquisitions
The trigger input provides both video streams and single acquisitions. Settings can be adjusted individually for every image:

Cable extension up to 5 times!
You need to bridge a longer gap?
No problem with the help of the VC MIPI® repeater board you can extend the cable length up to a factor of 5!
The VC MIPI® Repeater Board provides both for a wider scope and offers additional interfaces like a trigger input and a flash trigger output at the same time. With that, you are able to refit quickly and easily CPU boards, that don't provide these interfaces.
Additional extra: With this board you can extend the MIPI cable lenghts for 5 times.
The VC Compute Module Interface Board was especially designed for Raspberry Pi® Compute Module 3 and 3+. Form factor and connections are perfectly adapted: You can easily insert your Raspberry Pi board. Mounting holes are preset for the MIPI camera module and the fitting lens holder.
Benefits of the VC Compute Module Interface Board:
The LED ring light with 12 high-power LEDs makes for the optimal illumination of your application. It is available in two versions: with infrared LEDs at 850 nm and red LEDs at 656 nm. It has an easy plug-in connection and the VC MIPI® CMI Board provides two LED controllers with 1.5 A each for lighting integration.
Useful: Our standardized lens holders for S mount and C/CS mount lenses. Don't forget to order it along with your VC MIPI® camera and be ready to start right away with your project!
By the way: The lens holder is also compatible with our Compute Module Interface board.
Highly reflective surfaces and specular objects are challenging for image sensors. To reduce reflection and glare and to increase the contrast of images, Vision Components now offers its MIPI camera modules with optional polarizing filters. They are glued directly onto the sensor package of the modules. The angle and direction of the filter can be chosen to fit the specific application’s requirements.
Using these filter foils, light from one angle of incidence can be filtered. This is significantly less expensive, compared to solutions with polarization filters on the sensor array, filtering light from up to four directions of incidence.
For applications with highest requirements regarding multi-directional filtering, Vision Components offers the Sony IMX250MZR and IMX252MZR sensors as MIPI modules on request. These sensors are equipped with grid polarizers with four different angles, placed on each pixel.
The polarization filters can be requested when ordering the camera modules. They are adapted and applied according to customer specifications.
