Application example: 3D angle measurement during sheet metal bending

Our 3D profile sensors are used, among other things, for 3D angle measurement in die pressing and other forming processes in metalworking. No external computing unit is required for the measurement. Manufacturers of bending presses and similar applications can use these intelligent systems to check the angular accuracy and transfer their measurement results directly and in real time to the machine controller. CNC control expert DELEM has already integrated the VC laser profilers into its controls.

For numerous industrial applications

The 3D laser profilers of the VC nano 3D-Z series integrate a blue high-power laser and an intelligent camera in a robust IP67 protective housing.

The laser triangulation and, if required, other application-specific tasks are performed by the laser profilers autonomously and without an external PC. The design of the laser profilers is based on the VC Z series board camera.  Since the laser triangulation takes place in the FPGA of the SoC Zynq module, the dual-core ARM® is completely free for application tasks. The result of the 3D triangulation can be transferred comfortably via the 1 Gbit interface to a central controller. Due to the integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) with ARM® processor and FPGA, high accelerations in 3D applications are achievable. Optionally, the 3D point clouds can also be evaluated on an external PC and with existing applications. VC nano 3D-Z is therefore the ideal basis for many triangulation applications and with a perfect price-performance ratio.

Insensitive to ambient light and temperature fluctuations

Ambient Light Suppression Technology:
The Ambient Light Suppression Technology (ALST) developed by VC enables measurements with the VC nano 3D-Z laser profilers even at ambient light levels of up to 100,000 Lux. The high insensitivity to ambient light is based on the combination of extremely powerful laser and very short shutter rates. The VC nano 3D-Z not only analyzes the scanned 3D profiles, but can also evaluate the 2D gray-scale image.

Advanced Temperature Stability Technology:
Effective immediately, the laser profilers feature the new Advanced Temperature Stability Technology (ATS). The temperature stability has been improved by the use of stainless steel components.
