VC MIPI Blueline: Vision Components unveils at Vision 2026 new MIPI camera series with mainline support

Mainline Linux support, industrial-grade quality, and cost-optimized bundles including lenses and cables: at Vision 2026 (October 7–10, Messe Stuttgart), Vision Components will unveil its new VC MIPI Blueline camera series for the first time. At launch, the cameras will be available with six different image sensors from Sony and Onsemi, offering resolutions from 2 to 12.5 megapixels. The streaming sensors are ideally suited to AI applications and a wide range of smart devices, from prototyping through to series integration. The cameras will be available through VC subsidiary Notavis, and through leading distributors from early 2027 onward.

Another highlight at the booth is the all-in-one smart board-level camera VC EvoCam. VC will also be marking its 30th anniversary at the show and invites visitors to join the celebration.

Vision Components' new VC MIPI Blueline camera modules combine industrial-grade quality and long-term availability with a competitive price.

Proven quality at a lower price

The VC MIPI Blueline camera modules are developed and manufactured by VC in Germany. They deliver the same industrial-grade quality and long-term availability that VC MIPI Cameras are known for, and are available as fixed bundles with cables and lenses. This standardization, combined with economies of scale, enables a competitive price point that makes the cameras equally well suited to prototyping and series production. Drivers for the cameras are already included in the mainline Linux source code or are being submitted for mainline upstreaming. This ensures universal support across Linux-based processor boards and eliminates the effort of driver adaptation and maintenance over the product lifecycle.

Six color sensors at launch

Six VC MIPI Blueline cameras with color sensors are available for pre-order now, with delivery starting in November 2026. These include MIPI CSI-2 cameras with Sony Starvis sensors IMX662/832, IMX678/838, and IMX676, as well as the VC MIPI Blueline AR0246 featuring the Onsemi sensor of the same name. The cameras offer resolutions from 2 to 12.5 megapixels and sensor sizes ranging from 1/4" to 1/1.6". VC has already announced further VC MIPI Blueline camera modules for 2027, including models with the IMX335, IMX477, and IMX908 sensors. A selection of matching lenses supports the wide range of applications the VC MIPI Blueline modules are designed for.

Jan-Erik Schmitt, Vice President of Sales at Vision Components, comments:

"With VC MIPI Blueline, we're expanding our portfolio with a new line of camera modules and ready-to-use cameras, including lenses and cables. They deliver the same industrial-grade, field-proven quality our VC MIPI Cameras are known for — 'Made in Germany' — now in a cost-optimized bundle with mainline Linux drivers. VC MIPI Blueline cameras work plug-and-play with all common processor boards, are compatible with accessories from the VC MIPI Bricks system, and make it fast and easy to get started with embedded vision projects."

VC EvoCam featuring the MediaTek Genio 510 edge AI processor

Also on display at Vision is the new VC EvoCam, a tiny 65 x 40 mm intelligent board-level camera. It integrates a MediaTek Genio 510 edge AI processor along with all the components needed for image capture and processing on a single board. The VC EvoCam can be configured with an onboard image sensor or with one to two cable-connected remote-head image sensors from the VC MIPI portfolio. Interface boards allow for individual customization. The camera ships with a tailored Debian Linux operating system that natively supports common image processing functions.

30 years of Vision Components: an invitation to the trade show party

In 1996, Vision Components introduced the VC 11, the first industrial-grade smart camera, developed by company founder Michael Engel, laying the foundation for the company's success. This year, VC celebrates its 30th anniversary and invites all trade show visitors to join the celebration. The party, featuring live music and catering, will take place on Wednesday, October 7, starting at 5 p.m., in the Food Court of Hall 8. Guests can register in advance at www.vision-components.com/en/30-years..
