Vision Components, leading manufacturer of embedded vision systems, announces plan for full compatibility of the new NVIDIA Jetson Thor series modules and its VC MIPI® Camera portfolio. Both companies have been working together in a longstanding collaboration and with multiple successful projects, such as AMRs with camera-based navigation and deep learning tasks with VC MIPI® Cameras and NVIDIA Jetson platform. Vision Components will provide open source drivers for its cameras and the NVIDIA Jetson Thor ecosystem and support customers during development and design-in for individual projects. Full compatibility will be achieved towards the end of the year, depending on customer requests and projects.

NVIDIA Jetson Thor enables new embedded and mobile applications
NVIDIA Jetson Thor is a high-performance AI computing platform for robotics and other high-end applications. It provides up to 2070 FP4 teraflops of AI performance while using only 130 watts of power. This makes it a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Jetson AGX Orin, offering 7.5 times more AI compute and 3.5 times better energy efficiency.
Jetson Thor is specifically designed to tackle a major challenge in robotics: running multiple AI tasks at once. This allows robots to interact intelligently and in real-time with people and their surroundings. It's especially useful for applications that require fast, real-time reasoning inference. This capability is critical for tasks like perception and navigation in humanoid robotics, agricultural robots, and surgical assistants. Jetson Thor thus also enables high-end embedded vision applications.
Jan-Erik Schmitt, Vice President of Sales at Vision Components, says:
Vision Components has integrated NVIDIA Jetson for many successful embedded vision projects since we introduced the first MIPI Cameras for embedded vision applications 6 years ago. We continuously support all NVIDIA embedded platforms with open source drivers and integration. The Vision Components Team is excited about the start of Jetson Thor and we're looking forward to the new possibilities it offers for embedded vision applications and smart devices.
Plug-and-play Cameras for prototyping and volume products with NVIDIA Thor
The VC MIPI® Camera Modules with 50+ different image sensors are perfectly suited for embedded vision projects and run plug-and-play with NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Jetson Nano, Jetson Xavier NX, Xavier AGX and Jetson Orin Nano / Orin NX as well as with the new Jetson Thor series modules. With available image resolutions from 0.3 MPixel to 20+ MPixel, in monochrome and color variants as well as with global shutter, rolling shutter or global reset shutter, they offer maximum flexibility, from functional samples to volume products. The VC MIPI® Cameras are developed and manufactured in Germany, with the highest industrial quality and guaranteed long-term reliability.
