Basis for the Z Smart Cameras is the ZYNQ® module, a Dual Core ARM CortexTM-A9 module with 2 x 866 MHz and integrated FPGA from Xilinx®.

As with all VC Smart Cameras, these processors provide the necessary computing capacity to achieve VC standards: Extreme high-speed in real-time.

The ARM/Linux Smart Cameras are ideally suited for use in industry, but, of course, also for other applications.

For applications with rough environmental conditions, a protective housing is available. For 3D applications the board cameras are available as stereo vision versions with two external sensor boards. Several CMOS sensors and resolutions are included in the product range.

VC Linux, the new operating system, takes care of hard- and software interaction. And, last but not least, the Z models provide a special feature: On request, the FPGA can be programmed to achieve a considerable speed boost. With that, the image processing can be executed up to twenty times faster than without FPGA support.

Board cameras

The ARM-based board camera series follow the proved and tested quality of Vision Components: Thanks to the engaged processors the small power packs provide for top performance. The VCSBC nano Z series Smart Cameras come with a Dual Core Cortex-A9 . 

Like all VC Smart Camera models sensors from well-known manufacturers are included.

As an extra feature of VC Z series, the FPGA module, Xilinx's ZYNQ SoC, is freely programmable and thus able to boost the system's performance ernormously. This service is especially addressed to our OEM customers and guarantees for maximizing the hardware performance.

The Z series’ embedded systems are all equipped with the Zynq Dual Core Cortex-A9 ARM with 2 x 866 MHz and integrated FPGA. Furthermore, the provide a battery backed real-time clock and come with up to 12 inputs and outputs, with trigger input and flash trigger output, as well as a Gbit Ethernet interface. 
Different CMOS sensors with global shutter and a resolution up to 5 Megapixel are available. This sensor can be placed on board or on an external sensor board. With that, users have also a stereo vision option: all models are available with 2 external sensor boards.
Thanks to their high-end performance and being easy to implement, these extremely small embedded systems are perfect to integrate. The Z board cameras are basis for more models of the series: The VC nano Z and VC pro Z Smart Cameras.

The models are equally equipped like the VCSBC nano Z series - and on top, they are even more flexible: The sensor was implemented not on the board, but with an external board connected with a ribbon cable of 30 mm, 80 mm or 200 mm length. Thus, the whole system is even smaller: The CPU board now only measures 40 x 50 mm, the aditional sensor board 18 x 24 mm.
